Allo,
I'm running a 2 X 200 watt RMS amp and a couple of 12 inch subs in my shitty wagon. Every time the Bass thumps, the head deck lights surge, and sometimes my Tacho light does the same!
Is this my battery being GAY and is it time for a new one? or is the alternator not werking right? I think its the Battery...what do you guys say??

Thanks

Wasabi

could be you need a capacitor on your power line to the amp.... it's so beefy it could be draining too much power at once... or your battery is just crap

This is happening whilst the car is running right??? Headlights dim too??? I'd say you're alternator is not up too the current draw you're pulling. As long as you've got the correct sized power cables to the amp and your earth is ok, i'd look into an aftermarket bosch alternator or similar. A cap will help this prob too, however i seriously doubt its you're battery as when the cars running the alternator charges the battery and it isnt truely used, it is only used to start the car, whilst the cars running the alternator supplies the power to the electrical system. Hope that helps ya...
