Hi all,
When I start my RB it idles really high. Though when I pump the throttle it returns to a normal idle.
What could this be??? I don't know much about cars so help would be welcome. My dad is a mechanical engineer but he's too busy with my brothers car. He also won't let me do anything to the engine so it looks like I'll have to be content with a sports exhaust.
I got my RB the other day for $850. It was so cheap because it has 295K kms on it. Theres little rust and the seats are shot, but thats nothing racing seat covers can't fix.

I don't know much about the RB's but it sounds like your auto choke is getting stuck on, and its set to high.
How high does it rev?? does it have a taco.
My mums pulsar does somthing simular. its done 200K
and revs about 1.5 - 2K when u start it. - thats high for me.
My gem idles @ 800. - TG 1983, yours should be the same.
Good luck. |

Unfortunately seeing I have the SL/X I don't have a taco. But by hearing the sound of the engine it is revving around 2.5K. As soon as I pump the pedal it goes away.
My gem is nearly roadworthy but I hope I don't get any nasty surprises when it gets checked out. I know for a fact the CV joint at the front is stuffed so I hope nothing else is wrong or the repair will be more than I bought the car for.
Autobarn is so expensive. I'm going to go to supercheap auto from now on. |
