i have 7.5" and it look like theres a 1.5" to the gaurd (on the rear) so i recon with the offset my rims have, i could have gone 8" maybe 8.5"

i had 13x6 inch rims on my old gem with 225's on the back, they didnt rub but thats because the height of the car was stock and they stuck out a bit

Thanks, this is on a TD for me. Looking at 17"s and there usually about 7" wide, so it better fit Very Happy or rolling guards is gona be due.

aah.. its not all to do with the width of the wheel, its the offset, i had 6" wide rims that scrapes like hell because of the offset. if you get rims with a good offset like gene said you could probably get 8" under the guards.

if youre talking about getting rims made up with a custom offset, them i appologise

I have 17x7.5" in 42mm Offset with 215/40/17 all round, It doesn't rubs or scrape. It lowered 3.5".
And Your Question was Will 17" rub on a TD? My Mate Rick(Ludgate, Tiger Mica Convertable)He had 18x8.5" on his Convertable. And It only rubbed under Full Lock, But Was 1" off Bump Stops. I don't remember the Offset, I think they were 45mm
