I just wanted to know why so many people prefer the TF-TG Geminis? All I can see that is better is the outside appearance, and this is easily duplicated by fitting the lights and bumpers onto a TE which is an easy job (I know Ive done it myself). And doing it this way you dont have to worry about the exhaust recirculation crap that kills performance.

Why is the sky blue?
To understand why the sky looks blue and the sun looks yellow we need to know a bit about the properties of light. White sunlight is made up of all colours, travelling to the Earth as waves. Each colour has a different wavelength - violet, blue and green have shorter wavelengths than yellow, orange and red. As light travels through the Earth's atmosphere, it's deflected, or scattered, by molecules of air (mainly oxygen and nitrogen).
The billions and billions of tiny molecules in the air are shaken as the light passes through them, and begin to vibrate at a similar frequency to the light waves. The speed of the molecules' vibration is closer to the frequency of blue light than red light. This means that as the molecules vibrate they scatter the blue light in all directions. The red light isn't scattered as much, and just keeps on going.

All colours are scattered, but blue light is scattered about 10 times more than red light. So there is more blue light in the sky for our eyes to pick up, making the sky look blue. Similarly, because the blue has been scattered out of the sun's rays, the sun looks yellow (if you are stupid enough to look at the sun).

This was first explained by British scientist Lord Rayleigh (1842-1919). The deflection of light by particles smaller than the wavelength of the light is now known as Rayleigh scattering.

To see how this works, grab the following materials:

a clear glass or jar
a torch
some powdered milk
Fill the glass or jar with water, and in a dark room shine the torch through the water. Slowly add the powdered milk a little at a time and mix it, until the torch beam can be seen shining through the milk. Look at the beam from the side - it should look bluish-white. Now look directly at the beam from the end - it should look yellowy-red. Now put the torch beneath the glass so the beam shines through more of the milk - it should look even redder.

The tiny milk particles in the water scattered the torch light, just as dust particles and air molecules scatter sunlight. There is more blue light scattered in the water for our eyes to pick up, so the water looks blue (just like the sky). And because the blue has been removed from the torch beam, it looks reddish when looked at directly.

I went the other way, i own a tg fitted out with te lights and grille still using the tg bumpers, i like the look of te's over any other gem... but theyre shit!
te never had retracting rear seatbelts
they have a shit dash
the interiors werent as good
tg/tf dor cards were heaps better
tg/tf had way more factory options
tg/tf had better air boxes too (heater etc)
and are easier to fit out with air con
most te's arent in as good condition as the later models and the pollution gear is an ease to remove. its all personal opinion though, most decent gems dont run a stock 1600 anyway so if ya serious about it, then common sense calls foe a late model
