yep thought about a 20V 4AGE, it was just the price of getting an engine like that in NZ...but might be a viable option..Know of a crashed AE101 Levin that might be the donor vechile...Only major issue I can see is going to be adapting the FWD engine to the RWD driveline of the Gemini.

Getting a Gemini minus motor this week I hope, about to put a post up for suggestions Very Happy

Turbocharging a 20v wont work too well, compressions on the high side so without an engine rebuild ur restricted to fairly low boost (under 10psi would b my guess)

and as for the part about the gearbox changover, the 20V is a 4AGE, the supercharged version is also 4AGE, both are frontwheel drive (mid engine layouts are like fwd) Sprinter 5speed bolts upto both.

cheers

couldn't he just use a decompression plate if he decided not to get different pistons? also, the 4agze comes with semi forged 8.0-1 pistons... maybe they would go into the 20v block?????

theres a guy in SA with a gemini van show car, it was at teh 4/6/scrotary nationals. its got a 4age with a TRD stroker kit taking it to 1.9L. he reckons it would do somethin in the 14 second bracket, and supposedly it wasnt a hard conversion.

well they fit perfectly fine in a k10 corolla so i dare say there wouldnt be a problem with a gemini.

hahah, 14sec, the amount of money to do the conversion and engineering blah blah blah, i would rather spend the $$ on a g180 and be going faster.
u would have less to pay on insurance aswell cos u didnt do a conversion, and its still the original engin

I wouldnt use a decompression plate, abit too dodgy in my opinion. Yes the 4AGZE pistons would fit inside the 20V because they have the same bore, but remember the 4AGZE also used thicker rods and a slightly different crank (stroke was the same i think, just the actual crank was beefier)
