been though the search and heaps of people reckon g180 rev harder or something i know their easier to find so thats what i might get, anyway if its possible to bore them out to 2 litre and useg200 pistons? would the standard 2 litre head gaskets fit??

i had a g180 bored to 2l and it always over heated! it really pissed me off, whenever i stopped for too long it boiled. Darren from the gemi shop says its because it was bored out too much and the cylinder walls were too thin between the water jackets, so i wouldnt do it, but if you do decide to, i would recomend a massive radiator and a couple of thermo fans. |

ok listen up ppl, the g180 and g200 are identical except the g200 has a stronger timing chain tensioner , diff numbers on the block and slightly heavier crank i thing, the 1800 revs harder cause it has a smaller bore, taking an 1800 out to 2 ltr is pointless and not worth it as it would have a waeker tensioner and rev the same as if u got a standard g200. If u got a g200 u could sell the head off then put a 1600 head on to go a bit better .
Hope that helps |

i was told the g180 and g200 had the same bore but the g200 had a longer stroke THATS why it doesnt rev as hard. |

u are all fuking wrong
the strokes on the g180 and g200 are the same
the G160 has a shorter stroke and it revs harder than both of the bigger motors. i have a g180 bored to G200 and it has over 60 thou in the block. Yes there is a difference in tensoiner but the plastic one is easier to operate. The G180 is easier to find becuase it was in jackeroo's aswell as rodeos. I have four G180's my motor was built from two. They only get hot if ur cooling system is not up to it.
My brother G200 had 60 thou over bore on it high comp and a grind on the cam and it never boiled at idle.
so something is either amiss with your engine builders or ur cooling system is up the creek with a paddle |

WTF??? Bigger radiator and thermofans... Did you check the themostat was working??? Cool the radiator as much as you want, the thermostat is what regulates the engine temp... The thermo would help when you werent moving or in traffic for a bit, but if your cooling system was stuffed, theres your prob. Was your radiator full of gunk??? 1800 to 2l i don't see any probs... |

were not all fuckin wrong smart arse, yes the plastic tensioners are easier to use maybe, but there a lot weaker, u can fit the better 2lt one to a 1800 block with slight work. |

the original post didnt even mention a g161, it was comparing how a 1800 reves compared to a 2ltr cause thats whats everyone beens saying reves better than the 2ltr.
, and if u say they rev the same u as smart as a piece friggin wood. the 1600 does rev up faster but in standard form a 1800 will beat it off the line anyday and have heaps more torque. both 1600 and 1800 dont have much usual power above 5500rpm |

I've gotta 1800 bored to 2 litre. It ran hot with a pretty much stuffed standard radiator, so i replaced it with a custom made 3 core and replaced the thermo and it has no probs what so ever now! |
