shuddering when laying off

ok boys heres the situation, for the past 2 weeks i've noticed my gemi shuddering when i lay off the accelerator, it wasnt much to begin with, but on the way to work this morning it got really bad and i had to turn around and go back home, then when i got home, i couldnt start it. anyone know what this could be, i thought torque tube at first but i dont think it is now....anyone with any help please write back

I had something similar happen to me and it was onw of
the wheels had it's wheel hanging on byt a few threads and had snaped a wheel stud so check them maybe

the exact same thing happened to me, you will probably find that the torque tube bush has snapped. i replaced mine and now i don't have a problem

If you couldn't even start the car, then you can cross any kind of drivetrain or suspension problems off your list. A Gem doesn't need any of these to turn over the engine.
Have you had a look at your leads, plugs and inside your dizzy cap at the points which the current is passed through to the leads to see if it's unusaully missing on deceloration ? Even check your actual contact points inside your dizzy. This would be fairly unusual as a miss normally shows up on acceloration not decelloration - but it's worth a shot, plus it would also account for your engine not being able to turn over. Do you have a manual ? Could it be some kind of clutch shudder maybe ?
Give those a try and see what you come up with.
