I have a TE gem and I bought solexs locks for it. I am having trouble fitting the boot lock in. I have seen it done but am not sure how to do it. If anyone knows and could let know that would be great.

Thanks

yeah buddy ya have to a lil bit of work with the file....i test fitted it on another boot before doing mine!

basically file i think one more groove into the hole(been a while since i did it). but remember make it a really tight fit, theres nothing worse than a loose lock. make it that tight u have to ram the lock into the hole that way she aint gonna fall out..

cheers

thanks for replying but it's not that im having trouble with. Its the latch at the end of the barrel. the solex lock is different and i cant find any part that will fit the end of the solex lock. The solex boot lock works like the door locks, but my original boot lock is different from the door locks.

It hard to explain, but if you know what im talking bout post your answer???

Thanks

In my solex set the boot lock was totally different to the rest, its spring loaded like the original, what model gem you got? coz i think the older style boots are a bit harder

i had this problem, u need to weld a small piece of rod (old bolt) ro the boot latch, about 30mm long, and it lines up into the hole on the arm of the solex lock.

how did you weld the arm onto the lock.....i got the lever off the old lock but because the two metals cannot be welded together then you cant do it cos the lock is brass or copper and the other is steel...
just wondering

You may be able to braze (braise?) weld it if u have to. If you dont know what that is, you bassically heat up a particular metal rod and turn it to liquid to virtually metal glue the rods to each other. Well... that's one way of doing it.
