17s will it work

ok i went inquired bout a set of 17s for the gem of course and i belive there illegal in melb but the man said there not as long as there no bigger than the diamiter of the origenal tyre and rim. either way i dont care but what he is saying is that the 17 incher with tyres wont be any biggen than the origenal rims so in theroy will i need to get my guards roled?

you'll be forking out for EXTREMELY low profile tyres to keep those legal, going by your theory (which is probably true). also, if the diameter changes, it pushes the speedo out depending wether the diameter is smaller/bigger doesnt it?

if the wheels are wider you mayneed to get your gaurds rolled. the profile of the tyres for the 17s would have to be in the area of 2 inces

u need to have 35 series tyres for the overall diameter to be the same as a stock gemini wheel

i have 17's on my gem and they are the same diameter as the original wheels! they are 40 profile and yes they are illegal in melb, most people say that you are allowed 2 inches bigger than stock but infact it is only 1 inch bigger as a TOG once told me while canarying my car!!

yea, my dad's friend does RWC's in FTG, and he told be less than a week ago that its only 1 size up.

I have 16x7's and I was defected for them being one inch too wide but they didn't defect me for the diameter! That's in victoria too.
