ok, now im getting into the finer details of efi turbo, which is better in the long run, batch or sequential fire efi? the computer ill be using is capable of both, but there is a lot of screwing around involved in setting up a C.A.S in a gem motor. batch fire however is not without merit..it is akin to tbi, but without the risk of burning cylinders with lean mixes, as the injectors are so close to the inlet.
what i really want to know is, is it really worth the hassle to set up a sequential fire efi system, if batch will do the job? are there any advantages to running sequential fire in a boosted motor, up to say 15 psi?
thanks all, this is really appreciated,
cheers,
rob. |

Sequential firing is traditionally an economy feature, whilst the most elaborate setups (motec, autronic, etc.) allow you to tune each individual injector, the sequential offered by microtech doesn't, in fact, I dont even think its propper sequential, I'm pretty sure two injectors fire at the same time.
You will make the same power with batch fire, provided it is multi point injection.
The real advantage of setting up a twin trigger crank angle sensor is that you can run a wasted spark or direct fire ignition system. With a normal electronic distributor, you are only limited to one coil.

im using the microtech mt-4. ive set mine up for batch (or "Bank fire" as the book said) all injectors fire at once.i works ok.
a question for ben wright (i think u have said you are using a microtech) ive tuned mine up as good as i can. i have a flat spot when u push to about halfway down on the accelerator from idle i can give it a smal rev off idle and there is no flat spot.when crusing just touching the acc and the accelerate it will give a jerk and go. i donk know if its the RPMwot or the pump2start that needs changing if that at all?
Thanks

so in effect, i may get almost the same power running the efi on bank fire, using the rodeo/shuttle/piazza elec dizzy/coil/module, and the efi/elec ign. equivalent of NGK bp5es plugs? [slightly cooler than stock....reccomended by eggy]. so if thats the case, the extra power is not really worth the headf**k involved, for a road legal car.
also, with your 2ltr ben, what is the highest boost you can SAFELY run through it? i ask cos ill get the guys in balla. to make me one like yours...so theyll know what to do.
[me forgot].
ok, thanks mate,
rob. |
