not sure whether this has to do with tuning, spark plugs, leads or what...

when giving the car a bit round a corner or whatever (high revs, dropping clutch) my gem seems to kind of splutter, or be revving really rough at high rpm

it doesn't do this whilst driving hard ie. taking to 6000 rpm before gear change... just whilst trying to get a bit of wheel spin from a stop or near stop

any ideas appreciated

Yep, I'll second that as the most likely problem....

Check the;
Float level
Fuel Pump
Fuel Filter

do u have one? is it working? lol, i got an idea
wire it direct to battery (with a fuse) so that u runin it off 12v instead of like the 8 or something its meant to run off, u are neva short of fuel then....i got mine hooked to my demister switch, so when u want fuel turn it on, want to save fuel turn it off...instead of the auto on/off thing, but i usually just leave it on continuously
just an idea for you to try
