black smoke is usually from burning excess fuel caused by your carby running too rich. Burning oil usually gives you blue smoke. Do you have any oil leaks? |

Is there a possibility that oil is getting past your valve stem oil seals and into the combustion process? Maybe they're shagged. It's just an idea to go on seeing as though your compression is fine but it's losing alot of oil. Does the engine overheat at all? Your engine will start to chew oil if it overheats too much as well.
Cheers,
Jasyn... |
