the formula for what engine can go into a car for a 4 cylinder is
na= original car weight x 3 = max engine capacity in cc
fi= original car weight x 2.5 = max engine capacity in cc
so to be able to put a 13b turbo in a car it needs to weigh
1.04 ton.
a tx weighs .871 ton and has a kerb weight(with fueland water) of .918 ton.
a te slx deisel weighs 1.055ton with a tank of fuel acording to the hand book. so if we take off the difference between the tx factory weight and tx kerb weight(to get a rough figure) we are left with about 1.08 ton factory weight, which is more then the 1.04 ton needed by law for a 13b turbo.
i will be looking into this one and will post more info when i have it.

What do you want first, the good news or the bad news?
The good news is, your figures sound about right...
The bad news is that the department of transport won't give them the slightest regard, they have a big book of weights which covers hundreds of models of cars including all geminis and IIRC no gemini is in excess of 1000kgs. |
