g161 rpm limit

does anyone know what the max rpm for a stock g161? just curious.
is there a website specifically for the isuzu range g161 180 200. like the pizza motor has

depends on what you do to it,

g161 stabdard about 6000 anything else and it's not making power

G161 Cam, heavy valve springs, weber, decent exhaust 6500 - 7500 depending on cam shaft spec's (100Km+ in second gear)

G161 Balanced and turbo???? 7000+

they are tuff and will rev until they stop making power then shift up,

Well i've had my stock G161 got to about 7500 they are a tough motor and i rev it to about 7000 on heaps of occasions.

when i was driving home sunday coz of troubles with the missus i got i wrenched out to 5 and a half i think.

Well, since I got my $2 tacho on my bushbasher I have a rough idea what the motor is doing. If I assume the error difference gets greater as the rpm rise, I safely do 6500 - 7000 in 5th at 170km/h (well, on the speedo anyway) Not bad for an old beast with no brakes! Cheers, Greg.

did a power run on a dyno, i have a standard G161 with a 32/36 webber and an exhaust (possibly small cam?) and it stopped producing power at 5500rpm.

output was 41.4kw at the rear wheels, and the guy said out of all the near stock gems he'd done, it was good...
