Paint "Crocodileing"

Hello,
What does it mean when u spray the metal, and the paint goes all weird and starts to look like crocodile skin? Is it something to do with the primer? Lack of sanding?
help???

its caused by a chemical reaction that the paint has to something on the surface that the paint is applied too, you will now have to sand it back again and this time clean the area with some prepsole or similar cleaner, b4 painting.

Or "crows feet" - but I have never seen a crow with feet that little before!

Hey like the guy said earlier its a chemical reaction that happens usual i have found it to be between enamel and acryllic paints. Use some prepsol and a reall good sanding should do the job for next time.

Yes I believe it is called oxidisation.. I think. It happens when mixing enamel and acrylic paints. Also if you have any silicon based substances in the air or around the paint you will get bad orangepeel.

The best way around it is to sand most of the surface of the old paint off and then slightly feather in the primer a few strokes at a time until it dries. Then paint over that with your acrylic or whatever.

Whatever you do dont dump a heap of primer on it and try to cover it in one go. It won't work, the primer will crinkle and basically seperate. Take some time and do it in light feathered strokes.

there is like 3 million names for it, its to do with the paint your putting on and the paint your putting it over, generally it means that there is some sort of lead in the paint or that there is wax, grease or somethin to that degree,the simplest way to fix it is to sand the whole car prepwash it with a silcon, wax and grease remover and to assure that it doesn't happen again use a 2 pack primer, and as some one said before dont dump on a heap of primer, put about 3 coats on and you should not sand through it, if you do its too light, (thats with 2 pack primer, acrylic primer is a little lighter) try that and if that dont work take it to a panelbeater/spray painter n ask em, cos its real hard to say exactly without lookin at the car and the problem. hope it works bro.
