Took a drive the other night and when I went to shift I noticed that the gear box was giving off a lot of heat. Is this a potential problem or am I only noticing it because everything else is cold (being winter).

Thanks
Ben

it could just be heat from the exhaust pipe as it runs strait past the gear box
just a thought
cheers

Cheers mate,
Hopefully that’s what it is but I'll check and see if there is enough oil inside just to be sure.

I think it has something to do with the heater. I've noticed it too, but I don't know if something is wrong. It only happens when the heater is switched to 'hot', so I thought maybe the heater core is somehow heating the trans. tunnel or something.
dunno

I agree with gene, it must be because everything else is colder that you're noticing it. Any hot air from the heater should be deflected by the bottom of the blower box. And having the heater on hot means only a difference in the position of a baffle which won't have any effect on the warmth of the g/b.
