The centre console (the one around my gearstick) in my TD is pretty loose. I can see the screw holes in the side but what do I screw into.
Would it be ok to drill some holes into the body under the centre console and screw it in. I mean am I going to damage anything? How are they originally fixed in?

don't know what they're called but the screws go into little folded metal clips with holes in them. can't remember what the clips slide over tho |

Yeah mate, when i changed my engine and tranny, i put a new console in there (a TE+ one, looks good). What I did was manufacture 4 bent aluminium strips and self tappered (using short screws) them into the lower part of the tranny tube housing. I then used the 4 screw points on the console to attach it. Its so easy to remove and get back in if need be.
Alternatively you can just go to the wreckers and get a console attachment thing (the little bent piece of yellowish metal).
