what the fuk would you wankers know hard to steer and to dam heavy LOL and dont rev even funnier, martin and simon dont say shit you dont know about until youve dun it my friend. the reason they put v8s into gemmis mate is because you can and its cheap horse power
V8 + 970kg = fast trust me I know.
man you guys know it all dont you been there and dun it havnt you so you know how it handles and drives even though you have never been in a V8 gemmy.

I'm not gonna say that a V8 gem DOESN'T steer, but I would imagine that a well setup 4 cylinder gem would steer markedly better than a V8 one with fat rear tyres and skinny front runners. It's also easier to get a small engined turbo gem registered than with a big phat V8.
Leroy, don't think I'm putting shit on your car cause I thinks it's damn sweet, I'm just looking at this subjectevly. |

the way i c it is a 308 i can pick up for like 600 off my freind (308) thats some pretty cheap horses and turbo cost to dam much to insure. upgrade the front suspension to hold it up put fats on the back. burnouts do i need to say that nothing beets a V8 in ripping burnouts.
is it actually hard to fit in the 8s??????? |

ok, so a turbo will cost too much to insure but pitting a 308 into your gemini wont? Just think about what your saying for a little while. |

other than all of that - pain in the arse to fit! you'd have to move your firewall probably? not sure but what state are you in because you come across the next problem...... illegal!!!! in nsw you multiply the tare weight (for a gem about 950kg average) by 3 for a n/a engine. this gives you the maximum engine capacity legal. now, that comes to 2850cc (worked out with 950kg). now ask yourself this question..... is this 308 you got lined up less than 2.8L coz if it aint you can't do it! then again it depends on what state you in but that's nsw.

Have a look at the work Progem (AKA Idareu2) performed in fitting his motor. Very nicely neatly and professionally done. |

Some of u need to pull ur head out of fast fours and rotors and head down to the next street drag meet. NOTHING will ever sound sweeter than a strong small block pulling a 7grand burn out. Heres a thought, when u calculate the weight of the car to do a motor swap, the v8 will naturally add some weight to it. So ur calculating it with a 4cyl, then adding more weight. Would it make sense to weigh tthe car minus motor, weight the intended engine and then add them together?
Long live old school.
Cheers

Im not sure if you can in melbourne or how it works over there mate but I was helping a guy over the net (emails) on what to do to fit a 308 into a TG and within 5 weeks the car was done and leagally regoed hes in victoria
and mind you Ive been waiting 6 months for my fukin engineer to submit all the details of my car so I can obtain the aproval of princable and hes regoed in 5 weeks you work it out..
matt no offence taken mate i can see what your tring to say but I spent a couple of yours getting the geometry right for the weight ditrbution.. if you in adelaide and Im out and about one night ill take you for a spin and I think youll be very suprised on how it handles for what it is..
AND JUST FOR THE RECORD MY CAR WEIGHS 1350kg with the chev,cage,9 inch and me in it, engine owes me $4000 and punches 380 RWH APPROX 450 engine HP and puches a 11.083 @ 122mph if you can build a 4cylder TURBO for that money and those times your better than I am..
cheers guys |

I just found an article of a blue TD sedan in Vic with a 308 also registered. (or so the guy says). Its in a PSC from a couple of yrs ago.
thats depressing leroy thanx man. i also spent that much lol but i ended up with 1/3 ur power. Mind u 1500 of that was machining the bottom end etc etc coz my bottom end was so stuffed we had sand the bores with 36 grit paper to get the pistons out lol.
I am gona have to get u to take us for a spin when ur regoed.
Good Work!

1.So you havent SEEN the rego on the VIC car then? Just over the net?
2. So yours isnt registered then?
3. How can you get geometry altered to make up for an extra
100 - 150 kgs up the front with the V8 and the bigger box? |
