I am thinking of putting in a new engine in my gem. How difficult is it to fit a DOHC engine?

are you talking isuzu? coz actually finding these is the hard bit. if your talking sr20 or fj, then its not bolt in, but is not heaps difficult and is efi so heaps better and definately, in my opinion, worth the $

the ISUZU DOHC conversion is very easy once you have found the motor and gear box, you need the twincam box because the starter is on the left (opposite to SOHC).
it is a straght swap useing standard SOHC mounts and get custom exstactors made, other wise youll need to use a deisel crossmember then you can use the standard exhaust manifold, but why would you want to ???
EFI, you wont need a surge tank in a sedan unless you intend doing doughnuts on very low fuel i.e about to run out.

I strongly disagree with your statement regarding the need for a surge tank, I can get my fuel inlet to suck air no problems with around one third of a tank, maybe more...

lol

"doing donuts on low fuel"

they are revving motors and not a whole lot of fun when you are actually trying to break traction... but then, once traction is no longer a concern they will rev out very nicely to 7k

spose my clutch is to blame for lack of traction breaking
