tops speeds in you geminis

i would like toknow oyur top speeds i had a tf gemini 5 spd stock as except the 2" sports exhaust but no extractors
i got it up to 175kmh

i got 170 in my te, which is 1600, 4 speed, extractors, n 32\36 down draught. dont know the rpm cause i wasnt game to look at tacho, but it was screaming!

well i had no idea i dont have a rpm gauge but it was sitting pretty, flat ass

185 in my TF, i have a g200 in it and no tacho so i dont know the RPM, it was pretty fast.... if only i could get it to break the 200 mark!!

does that mean you have a vdo spedo or similar
as the stock geminis only go up to 180

i guess ive cracked 200 , cuz ive clocked 180 and pass where is says km/h (which is about 6:00 on a clock) ... revs were at aroung 6 1/2 thou , just over ...

TE sedan 1600 turbo LPG,

Needle pointing straight down and knocking on the reset button, still accelerating to 6500 rpm

i had a tx coupe, stock apart from filter and exhaust 1600 4 speed, an astonishing 'approximately' 190-195kms!!!the speedo stops at 180 and that was while delivering a pizza. then brought an 1800 and 5 speed with slightly worked head and all that could do is a bit more than 160, lottsa torque low to mid range but.

Would have had mine off the clock a few times but my spedo doesnt work.. grrr..
Anyway its not how fast it goes its how fast it gets there. Pulled some figures out of Wheels magazine Sept. 75 issue that compared the gemini, lancer, corolla and civic.
The speed test for the (tx) gemini was:

0-50kmh 4sec
0-70 6.5
0-90 11.2
0-110 16.1 (why would you not have a 0-100 time?)
0-130 29.6sec
Standing 400m 18.6sec

Third gear:
30-60km/h 5.4sec
40-70 5.2
50-80 5.4
60-90 5.8
70-100 6.7
80-110 7.8
90-120 9.1

Fourth gear:
30-60kmh 8.4sec
40-70 8.4
50-80 8.5
60-90 8.5
70-100 9.1
80-110 10.1
90-120 11.1
100-130 12.6
110-140kmh 14.8sec

Speeds in gears
1st 49km/h
2nd 80
3rd 121
4th 152

I think its funny that in about time it takes a stock gem to go from 100-130 mine will do 0-140

I got the Breadvan to 180-185kph - so I've officially 'clocked it', but I was going down hill.

The Breader sat flat and tracked straight and true on fat wheels and tyres, but I was a bit worried about overtaking some slower traffic - one touch of the 13" Momo at that speed could turn you into road pizza.

IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE GEMS CRACK 200KPH
rip the air cleaner off
advance the timming up a notch or two
2 bottles of octain boost in 5L of petrol
ram the mixture screw up
hold the fu=#@$ flat throught each gear
and if it dosn't hit over 180 on the clock, than hit the handbreak and flick it into a tree, cause i havn't owned a gem that hasn't done it after that!!!!!

a few monthz bak i did 165 in my stok auto gemi paddock basher on a stretch of road i think i culd have got more but the road ran out took a while 2 get 2 it though.it woz a 1.6 litre wif 4 bald tires Smile
