Petrol Gem dif ratio
TX 3.89:1,
TX - TG 3.90:1
Diesel 3.55:1
this will give you lower rev's at the same speed, ie 2nd gear will probably streck to 100kms, but you will not know as you spedo will still stay the same just it will be incorrect,
it will increase your accelation time as each gear will be like 1/2 a gear higher,
and all the fun in the wet in 2nd gear will be gone,

This is correct, the 'higher' ratio of the diesel diff. will decrease you aceleration, however they are meant to be stronger and will also give better fuel economy(As at higher speeds your RPM will be lower). However i have heard rumours of diesel diffs that have a 4.11:1 ratio, this will give better acceleration, but worse fuel economy and worse burnouts (Not enough speed through the tyres) but burnouts will be easier. HOwever this is only rumour as all holden books say the diesel came out with 3.55:1.
I would say stick with the orig diff, or get a imported one as i think in these you can get LSD and lower ratios (ie 4.11:1 ) |
