Still having some trouble with my 32/36 weber. At about 1/4 to 1/2 throttle there is a huge flat spot. When cold it's a bitch to keep the revs up, but it idles fine. When I take off in 1st, its ok until i get to 1/4 and a bit throttle than it jerks around and even sometimes stalls. Driving at higher speeds there is a loss of power at that point but under light loads and full throttle there is no noticeable loss of power. I've also noticed that I am using HEAPS less fuel. Ive got almost 300k to half a tank so far. Ive checked all the jets and none are blocked, and it has recently been rebuilt.
Thanks for any replies

OK,
sound like you are getting closer to the problem,
if full throttle is ok then try this,
swap your Secondary main jet ( bottom of fuel bowl)and aircorrection jet ( top of fuel bowl) to the primary side , then take it for a drive, DONOT use full throttle, if this solves your problem, your primary jets are too small,
Cheers

OK, I had a look at the jets, I had 132 primary main, 127 secondary main, and 175 primary air correction and 145 secondary air correction jets. Was that the wrong way around? Anyhow I swapped them and it runs a bit better but it still has a bit of hesitation and certain loads. I haven't tried full throttle yet, I'll just wait and see what you reckon about the jet sizes first. |

I have suffered similar problems and ended up going through a bunch of jets to fix it.
My current setup is:
Jets: 145 primary, 150 secondary
Air correctors: 185 pri, 165 sec
Still runs a tad rich down low, so I will try 140 primary again now that everything else is running fine. The secondary is fine, maybe could go up a step and know she isn't going to lean out. They are a bugger to get just right, but when you do
I didn't realise jets came in sizes between increments of 5 units?!? I have been buying individuals and now have a set ranging from 125 through to 150 in increments of 5. I could probably do with a 142 or 143 in that case with my primary. |

I get mine through a local Weber specialist, about $6 a pop though
This specialist is as dear as poison, charging $150+ for a carb kit and rebuild. I suppose these things are complicated, but that's a bit pricey in my mind.
I might check out that site eggy. |
