The cdt S3 heads had a lot of work done to them with attention paid to gas flow, blue printing and matching the manifolds which is nothing that cant be done to a stock gemini head. They ran a decomp plate sandwiched between 2 head gaskets running on a basically stock bottom end that had just been balanced. They did use a different camshaft and also regraph the advance curve in the dissy. They were thinking of including water injection but then scrapped the idea because the owner would probably forget to fill it up and could damage the motor but there wasnt much difference in power anyway. There was an option to have an oil cooler under the bonnet though . It ran a stock gemini 5 speed box, stock diff, and an option for a heavy duty clutch if you wanted one. The front and rear swaybars were retempered and also different coil springs set to new rates and about 40cm lower than the standard gemini. Shock absorbers were a De Carbon unit and harder linings were fitted to the brakes and the rear pressure limiting valve was modified to stop the rear brakes locking up under hard braking. The S3's sat on a set of 13" globe mags with a different offset hence the need for the flares and had yoko 205/60 rubber.
Tinted windows stopped people checking out the different seats and sports steering wheel that it came with and these cars were fairly easy to spot with a small vent on the bonnet above the turbo charger, body stripes and front and rear spoiler.
With a bit over 150hp it would hit 0-100km in 7.8 sec and sprint down the quater at almost 15sec on the nose. |
