sorry. the valves on my head might hit the top of my pistons because its a 1600 on a 2L with big valves and a cam. i need to test if they are gonna hit |

Take the head off, if it already isn't. Put a small amount of blu-tac on the top of the pistons, replace the head, turn the motor over by hand several times, remove the head, and check the blu-tac for crush or how close the valves came to kissing the pistons. The valves will imprint on the blu-tac showing their lowest point. And go from there.

might want to spray the top of the bluetak with cooking oil or something similar so it doesnt stick to the valves. |

Hey - if you take your plug out and shine a torch in the hole - could you see the top of the piston hitting the valves, if it was? Someone suggested this to me today. |

Yes you can, it depends though at what valve lift the valves are hitting, which again depends on cam specs, etc. |
