|

Just wondering what type of turbo would be the best set up on an 1800, SOHC E.F.I motor. Motor is origional gemi 1800, new pistons with a custom made efi system. Mazda 13B injectors, ported and polished head and a lumpier cam. Boost will be approx 14psi, and want it to be boosting at no more than 3300rpm. there will be a small intercooler, but nothing that will effect the lag too much. Any ideas??
thanks |

A newish roller bearing unit from an S15 Silvia would be a nice choice. You could high flow it, but that depends on your budget and prefered boost response. I'd keep it stock if you want it to come on that low.

hey gene,
i was gonna do the piazza but i thought if i was gonna do it, i'd better do it right, so the plan is do up the 1800 with a tuff as bottom end, work the top end and i got a fuel injection system lined up with the turbo manifold. all i gotta figure out is which turbo and computer. I dont mind if it is a bit laggy, but im hoping to get 240 ponies at the wheels. Thanks for that jasyn, do you know how much the silvia turbos are priced at? i got a budget of about $800 for the turbo, so any other suggestions 4 a turbo or computer would come in mighty handy
thanks |

I can get my hands on a CDT Head with garrett turbo and everything you need to fit it for around that price. Turbo hasn't been run for a while so would benifit from rebuild, new seals etc. Where are you? |

Hey momofan,
i haven't got a gemini or motor yet. I am planning everything first. all i really have is the fuel injection system, turbo manifold (and all the sensors and shit that goes with it). What size is the turbo? and what is a CDT head? i'm in brisbane and will be keen to purchase in about 3 - 4 weeks. |

A TD05H from an EVO 4+. Or from an early wrx (pre97). They are good for up to 170/180 rwkw. Can pick one up for about $500 in pretty good cond. Thats what I was going to use. If you want to save up a bit more or for a large frame GT series garret. Good for 25+ psi, will spool up really low, and will be on full boost fairly early. About $2000 though. But worth it. |

not trying to be picky, but its Country Dealership Team, not commonwealth. If this item is original CDT im sure there will be a fair bit of intrest from the rest of the people on this site as well. |

Yeah cool Simmo, thanks for clearing that up for me. I'm speakin out my arse 99% of the time on here as I know jack all about gems, specially turbo's! Actually, my knowledge on cars in general is pretty limited, know how to make one look good and how to do a good detail but I'm learning. And yeah I'll find out more about it in that case. I think he wants around $900 for everything. I'll find out more.... |
