Exhaust

My 1600 is pretty much stock, except i have got the heads done. I want a 2 inch exhaust leading into a hotdog, which then leads out to a 2.5 behind that with a 4 inch tail pipe. Would that be a good setup? And what size hotdog should i use?

your gunna need a muffler, put it under passenger seat and have the hotdog right at the end and have the dump out of it, that looks heaps good because the hotdog is about 4" and then the dump comes straight off it really neat.

a 4" dump tip is gonna giv ya trouble if ya gem is lowered to the max! hehe if not ok but i had to change to a 3" and have then push it right up under the car cos it bottems out on the gutters and speed bumps.

it isnt illegal if they dont know... i could just put a hotdog that is incased in a muffler box. Cause my sister did that in her vh commodore.
noone would ever know.

yeah thats clever! dunno how itd go over the pits, but a normal rego check wont pick it up

yeah but think about it. if its hell loud the cops dont even need to look under the car they will just defect you on the spot so encasing it in a muffler would be a waste of time. and when going over the pits they use a sound meter

I had a corona wagon a while back and i was working one nite and the muffler fell off and was hanging by them rubba dillys.
anyways i took it off and got dad to make a straight through pipe leading to a big shitty tip.
but that worked. no one would ever had known and the best thing about about it is that it popped big flameys when it was a cold motor. but when it was warm i could make it backfire whenever i wanted. - right MR GEMI or matt!??

as long as you dont have to go over the pits, or get pulled over you will be fine, and besides if you get done it will cost all of $2 to temporarily weld in a stocker to pass the defect, then slap in the hotdogged muffler again, each time you get done say that 'its an old muffler officer, i must need a new one' i a really nieve voice.
