Hey guys, i don't know much about car engines or anything, so i was wondering if i can get some help on what Mod's i can do to my car for around $1000, it's a TE Gem, with a standard 1600. I don't want nothing special, just want it to be able to drag a few other gem's and stay in the compitetion. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanx steve |

Ok,
for a start, I would go out and get a weber off a cortina, you can pick these up for about $100, then I'd get a decent filter for it, I had a K&N which cost $60, but I would suggest getting the double height one cos the small one doesn't allow enough airflow.
anyway, you might also want to get a bigger cam (around $200-300 for a reasonable one). You could probably pick up a 2" exhaust and an ok muffler aswell, but with 1K I wouldn't advise getting into major engine work or head work... It will most likely end up blowing your budget.
Have you got a GT40R Ignition Coil yet? if not, get one. and maybe a good set of leads and plugs. I run Bosch Super 4's and "bottom end" sports leads. (for now)
