Hi,
I was wondering how hard it is to replace the seals in the master cylinder of my TE gemini I've just bought? Is there any info I can read online that will explain how to do it. |

Hey natasha,
Have you had a look in the rare spares website for a kit? I may be mistaken but i thought the master cilinder was a sealed unit?
Post back if you find a kit as im interested in running a rebuild kit through mine aswell.
Also a friend of mine was going to help me modify my master cilinder using half a VK Commodore master cilinder and weld it together. I dont know the full story but if we do mine ill write up a workshop article.

Hi Simon,
I rang 2 car part suppliers over here and they have the complete master cylinder and seal kits! will have to do some doublechecking now!! will get back to you. Mine is a TE. 1980.

Hey Tash, sorry to butt in. Most parts suppliers worth their salt should be able to find you both the seal kits and/or complete assemblies as you have already found. As for pulling your old cylinder apart, the best information I can give you is invest $45 in a Gregory's repair manual. I've just flicked through the brake section of my TD one and the master cylinder overhaul is fairly detailed. However, if you're not confident in actually doing the job, as your braking system is a pretty critical thing to get right, contact your local brake specialist. My local ABS put a kit through my Rodeo for around $50 including the seal kit. Pretty cheap for the peace of mind. I can find out if you like what you should be paying for each of the items as I work for one of these parts suppliers. Some places prices are very exorbitant!  )

Hi Yonnee,
Getting a manual is a good idea I think,as I have a few other bits and pieces I want to do. Only $50 to get your rodeos done hey? I guess I just assumed it would cost more!! Gues who'll I'll ring tomorrow to get a price? lol
If you wouldn't mind getting a price for the parts that would be great. I've been quoted $45 from one place and th other was $28.
