Alrite guys, some of you have probably seen my messages asking for Twin Webbers, well i need some help in deciding which would be better for my car, I haven't done nothing to the engine yet, so it's just a standard 1600. I am putting extractors and 2inch pipe rite thru. I was just wondering what webbers would be best for my car?? Single side draft or down draft? or Twin Side draft or down draft? I'd appreciate any help
thanx guys
cheers pervert

Pervert,

Stop fucking asking - every fuckin string has you asking about fucking webbers - do some of your own research and look at old posts to see what others have done - you've already been told that if your motor is stock then a single will do the job better than twins. I personally hate twin carbies for the maintenance factor - as I am not a mechanic the single is a far better/cheaper option for my slightly worked 1600. Besides - no-one is selling twins and just cause you keep asking doesn't mean someone is going to turn around and sell you some. Now - go look at this website - it fits with your name free.xxxdatabase.com!

Whats your problem mate? I thought this whole website is for ppl who have questions and can get help from other ppl? And anyway if it's pissing you guys off, why do you even bother reading what i have said. Only reason i'm askin is because one guys says single webber is better, and then the next guy says the twins will be better, so it was just a general question, didn't mean to piss anyone off, just askin for a little help.
should take it a bit easy momofan.
ps. my name pervert, is the actual brand, u should know that if your a proper gem guy.

ok, now you may think I am biased, since I am trying to sell you my weber, however, you just have to think about it yourself. also check my post to twisted_torque in the for sale section. also check the web for what other people have done with other cars with similar size engines.

I have been running rally cars for a number of years from stock engines to fully worked, gemini, escort, datsun and this is my experience:

if you are going to build a full on race engine and rev the guts out of it, get twins (40s or 45s) as these will give you max power (at >7500 rpm) (don't bother putting them on the engine until you work it tho)
similarly if you are going to mildly work the engine and want to be able to brag about having twins, buy them. expect to spend bucks on dyno tuning them, use heaps of fuel and have no power off idle.

if you want a fast road car, which you can drive to work, and are going to mildly work the engine, then get a single weber ( or similar). it may seem that the more fuel you can get into the engine the more power, but if that was the case, you would just run your fuel lines into the intake ports. what you need is the optimum fuel and air for what your engine needs to make power
with single weber you _should_ still dyno tune it for your engine characteristics, but it will take half the time, use half the parts and behave better at low revs.
other advantage is that it is about half the price, and if you want to go to twins later, you can buy another one and a manifold
no offence to nick H but that seems awful cheap for (relatively rare) twin downdraughts. do you need to cut a hole in the bonnet or remove brake booster to fit them? are they badly tuned? why are you selling them? if they are good, you would keep them (feel free to answer, I really have no knowledge about you nick!)

Thats some good information badger, so ur saying if i'm not going to fully work my engine, don't bother with the twins?? yeah i just had the general idea that 4 barrels giving fuel to each cyclinder would generally give it more power. See i don't know much about cars just as yet. I'm only 18 years old, so i'm kind of a beginner in this field. My dickhead friend keeps tellin me to get twins and not worry about doing work to my engine. And he works for a Racing car company, shows much me he knows huh?? oh well i think i should just wait til i work my engine a bit, to get single or twin webbers, thanx for ya help aswell, really appreciate it.

it seems that heaps of people will tell you to get twins etc, "because that is what racecar xxx has, and he makes heaps of power" but if your head etc doesn't breathe enough then they won't work properly. by their way of thinking if you put 4 50mm webers on you would make even more power, but in reality the air will be going so slow, and the mixing will be so bad that the engine wouldn't even run (if you could find a manifold and space for 4x50mm!). plenty of V8s are running single carbs with masses more air/fuel requirements than a little gem motor!

The good thing about weber carbs is that you can tune them to exactly what you engine requires, so for your stock car, you can tune to run well, and then when you work it, you just replace the air correctors, main jets etc and you again have the exact right mix for your car. this is why everyone wants webers ( ie pays big bucks), because they are adaptable, but it also requires tuning to get it right...

so in conclusion: unless you are going to build full race engine and have heaps of money and time, go for single weber. you can get it now, tune it for you current engine, have fun, and then when you raise cash for rebuild, just tune it for new engine characteristics.

biased bit: if you got the cash, get my weber now (i got to sell it soon!) I will knock the price down to $450 delivered to your door, then when you do engine work, just retune the carb.
