Plenty of Piazza topics in the forums, just get intimate with the search page Wink

wink, wink indeed! It would make an excellent workshop article and ones like it wouldn't hurt either!

I'd love to hear how some of the DOHC guys went with their conversions as I'm seriously thinking about doing the same.

dohc conversions... cant tell you how to convert one but i can fill you in on some of the joys of owning one

you know that awesome gemini thing of being able to ask your mate for that spare head and a few gaskets that he/she has lying around in his dogs uncles back shed

well... that wont happen

NO ONE supplies parts for these donks and gaskets can be hell if you dont know the right people

but they do rev out really nicely and if you have them injected then its even better. People imported these engines to use them in rallies cause the engine is a stock isuzu motor, just not on the aussie delivered vehicles

yeah that was a bit of a rant ay

Yeah I've also heard about the drama's involved with importing this kind of motor. That's the problem when they were only released in Japan.

I'm undergoing some deep thought trying to figure out what exactly should end up in my TD (not roadgoing yet, and a long way from it).

The reason I'm considering it?

130HP in the G200W compared to 150HP for the 4ZC1-T (as released in Australia). I imagine with considerable modifications the G200W could blitz the 180HP the 4ZC1-T delivers in the worked Japanese version.

Apparently the G180W only has 4 KW less power than the G200W, and that's why that is my second choice. Might be a little less 'provocative' as far as the transport authorities are concerned.

All this may come to nought though seeing as I'd have to wait for the G180W and G200W halfcut became available from an importers, and the extra cost of parts may not make it worthwhile (i've seen reports of a complete gasket set costing ~$300-$400).

It may just be easier to go the G180 or G200 SOHC models which I understand are fairly numerous in Aussie, at least you may have a good chance of finding reasonably priced parts locally. I would love to know the power these motors output though as stock, and what options are available for them (EFI etc).

I understand there are a lot less drama's involved with fitting the SOHC motors into a gemi too.

Yeah, i figured it would be a lot easier to go for a SOHC G200, although parts are not a problem, finding a good G200 is. They are getting rarer everyday.
