Engine

Ok so a few days ago the engine started to run like shit and foul out lots. Today I ripped the head off to try sus out what the loud knocking noise is.
The 3rd combustion chamber is jet black the valves are black its all black but only in the 3rd chamber.
The pistons look ok (from above that is) and the bores are still nice and smooth.
Rocking the crank back and forth slighty (being very carful with the timing chain. u can here the knocking noise (quiter of course but same sound).
Ideas on what to do next would be great!

Should I take the bore off?
Or attack it from the bottom end and take the rod out?

Rip the sump off and peer at it from that side.

ok closer inspection of the pistons
the 3rd is very lose, u can rock it side to side and back and forth. Not a nice sign. Im taking the sump of 2morrow if time permits and will take out the piston.

"Loud Knocking"?! Sounds like you've spun a big end bearing. Means engine's got to come out. Don't just put rings and bearings in though, try to find out why you lost oil pressure to there if that's what it is.
