Suck through:
Carb, turbo, engine.
Blow through is:
Turbo, carb, engine.

I am no turbo expert, but I would hazard a guess that suck through is better and would yield more power, especially with an intercooler

You can't intercool a suck through turbo setup.

If you run a draw through setup and try running an intercooler, chances are by the time the atomized fuel reaches the intercooler you will end up with a pool of petrol at the bottom of it. Not very efficient. Ages ago I heard of a guy trying to put a blow off valve on his draw through setup. Excellent idea as it was venting an air/fuel mixture perfect for combustions into the engine bay. Probably the fastest way to set our car on fire. Smart bloke. The other prob with draw through setups is the turbine messes up the atomized fuel so it doesnt always stay atomized which is not particularly good for economy or performance, you get liquid fuel sitting at the bottom of the turbo that gets washed through the engine and fouls things up. The throttle response is also not particularly good. On the other hand though you dont need a high pressure fuel pump or rising rate regulator
which you do need for a blow through setup. With blow through you get better throttle response, the fuel stays atomized, and can run a blow off valve and an intercooler as its just air that’s being cooled down before it reaches the carby/injection.

But a more ideal setup is of course injection as well. So therefore all these Skyline GTRs and the like are blow through the throttle body and not the other way around?

i've never heard of a suck through turbo but it sounds fucken stupid to me

It's not that stupid, the carby can remain standard as it doesn't have to be modified to take boost.
