overheating?

its been a while since ive been back here..

anyway, i was driving through traffic the other day, and my temp was at like the "H" so i quickly drove home and scoped out the car.

The water is fine, the little slidey temp checking wire (RB gem) was in place, and i just tested the fan there by wiring it directly to the batter to see if the fan worked and it does.

Its a thermo fan, but i dont think that the fan comes on when the temp gets to half way like it used to. What could be the problem?

I think i might just make it be on permanently but i cant think of what i should wire it to to make it come on with the ignition. Ive tried the search cos i remmeber seeing a post on how to change a thermo set up back to a permanent one but i cant find it.

Any Ideas?

put a swicth in ya car like I have got so when the temp goes up you turn it on. Mine actaully has a auto temp switch under the bonnet so it does it automatically but I can override it in the car

maybe you have a stuck thermostat or cavitation
