What Engine?

Hey, i bought a TG SLX a week ago, with a G200 SOHC, with twin webbers and a "3 month old rebuild"... anyway, it blew up.

So i have maybe $2000 to get an engine in and running, do u think its possible to get a G200/G180 DOHC in her for that kinda money???

sure. You can pick up a g180 for as cheap as $1000. The thing that is going to hurt you is the labour if your getting it done at a workshop.

i got quoted $1200 for a reconed 1600 and the guy goes i got a 180 here suit recon just add $500 so yeah its possible

thats all fitted changed over al new parts

Just a note, ended up giving up on the DOHC, couldnt find 1 in SA.

Right now a fully rebuilt G200 SOCH is being stripped down, bored out to 2.1L, new pistons, ballanced crank, lumpy cam, twin side draft webbers, extractors etc are going on. Installed its costing more than the car did, so hopefully it goes well...... :S

Are you getting the head ported and a little valve work?
Coz it's no good putting on big nostrils if the head is standard still.

seems u didnt look very hard man.
mates been trying to sell his 1.8 dohc for ages. had it in the trader last week for $1500. completely rebuilt and in S.A

why not look at a toyota 3sfe motor cheap as chiups and go hell of a lot better than a gXXX ever will
