Got a huge problem. Thought my head gasket in my TG Gem blew the other day. Pulled the head off and everything was ok. No busted head gasket, not cracked head. Got it back together, took it for a drive and its still overheating. I got coolant leaking into my sump. Is it possible I got a cracked water pump housing and it's squirting coolant down into my sump which is draining my radiator, and coming back up through my block and being pumped all round my head etc? The heads not the problem. Haven't driven it long enough for it to be. Head gasket is brand new. No coolant leaking anywhere out of the motor anywehere. I've got the option of getting another motor but if its only the water pump then there's no pint ditching a good motor just for that. Any help would be appreciated

i don't know how clued up on it you are, but the old head gasket should be thoroughly inspected for depressions between the pots, i am assuming there was no sign of leakage(black or grey marks)there. did you check that the head wasn't warped this is caused by overheating.

how does it run, whats your fuel consump like. there rnt to many ways coolant can get to the sump it shouldn't be that hard to trace. maybe a bore crack. have you had the cooling system pressure tested.
