i did a 1/4 mile run on wednesday at eastern creek in the 200 when i knew that my cluch was slipping abit. first run with 1st 2nd and 3rd gear slipping got 14.2 yeah not to imprest. so i did it agian when in 2nd cluch gave way over revved for a few seconds valve bounds and screwed the pistons with a hole and head smashed into pcs.
the lesson is that do not race if your car is not 100% ready. a very expensive lesson desiding weather to sell the car as is or put a new motor. |

you've got a series 2 s14 hey? Yeah try and find one of the series 2 sr's for sale. fairly pricey. Just a bottom end rebuild kit will cost you a pretty penny with gaskets. Over $2500 i can tell for a fact. You might wanna source a half cut from japan. Those gearboxes are piss weak. Our 200 race car has spat out 4 boxes and two clutches in 3 years. It doesnt get used for 99% of the year. It's a 12 second car mind you.
hard luck man. thats not good news.
cheers

gem12c,
Can I ask you a few questions as I am considering installing a SR20 in my wagon. Did you do the install yourself? Were you able to use the std intake and exhaust manifolds or do you have to get custom made ones to clear the gem engine bay?
Cheers,
Matthew |

you can use the standard intake and exhaust manifolds on the SR, you just have to get a custom dump pipe made to clear. |

Sorry to hear of your loss...
At least you know where you went wrong and probably won't do it again.
A great product to prevent such mishaps is the good old rev limiter. LUMEN make one and for a small price it gives peace of mind.

Did you install this yourself?
I am looking at doing this conversion myself and would like to find out more info about your install.
Please email me matt_thompson78@hotmail.com
