I have seen turbos where the compresser and turbine are quite far apart like
<----------------------------------------------------------> that far. What is the go there? Is that to keep the compressor cooler or something?

i thnk the water and oil cooled ones are wider apart to fit the 2 cooling gallerys in
mine is quite close and is only oil cooled.

this is a theory, i dunno if its real reason. but my "un educated guess from observations"

meaning it was not ball bearing,

just an assumption!!

Mine is close together and its BB and water/oil aswell. Some older turbos may be like that, probably just the way that company designed them at first.

lol, coz the arrows that I drew will change size depending on screen resolution & font heh.
I'd say the compressor and turbine were between 100 ~ 150 mm apart
