Hey all, might have seen me post in the general forums asking about this. Well I didn't get any concrete answers so I found out myself. In QLD it is TOTALLY legal to have non structural parts of your car made or repaired using fibreglass. I just got both rear side panels of a panel van and a spot in the roof cut out and fibred up. Non - Painted with the fibreglass showing it just got passed for roadworthy. (Admittedly I'm at work and wasnt there but the panel dude reckons the inspector didnt even bat an eye at it) I reckon its great fireglass is so much cheaper and it wont rust again after its repaired, plus its lighter. Just for those that were interested. Cheers |

it will rust if you dont get it painted properly. water in between the fiber glass and the steel it will rust a hole right next to the repair. |

yes u can use fibreglass its legal if its not strutual but u need 2 do the prep work and cut all the old rust out and then get (rust kill and primer) this shit is good stuff but hard 2 come by u can smtimes con a panel beater into sellin ya some and thats ya prep work done (i shortend the prosess but u will get it if ya doing the job) then fibreglass that bitch. I have done heaps of this kind of stuff on my gemis but get a mig and do it properly. If it was made of steel replace it with steel |
