You were going about it the right way if your brakes are still full of old fluid. Then it's a matter of starting at the rear passengers side, open the nipple and let it gravity bleed until you see fresh fluid coming out. Close the nipple. Then do the same to the drivers rear, then passengers front, then drivers front. Then with someone in the drivers seat, get them to "pump" the brake pedal a couple of times then hold it firm while you release the passengers side rear nipple again. If any air bubbles are expelled, repeat until no air bubbles are seen. Reapet for the other three nipples in the same sequence as before.
If the brake system is empty, or you are changing a master cylinder, the same order goes but you need to bleed the master cyl. This is simply "cracking" the lines out of the master cylinder after you gravity bleed the system, but before you pressure bleed.
If in doubt, see a brake specialist, after all, it's your passengers lives you're playing with!!!

Hope this helps, Yonnee

thanks for the help dude. but i am a little confused. what is "gravity bleed"? so after i let it gravity bleed i do what i did before where i had someone pump the brake a few times, after i open the nipple. then close the nipple, ask him/her to let go of the pedal, open nipple and repeat?? so i dont have to bleed the master cylinder?? if so how do i do that??

thanks dude

Wonderfull thing this gravity, it means the brake fluid will go from the highest point to the lowest point all by itself.

But seriously, YES!
What you were doing is called pressure bleeding (Pump 2-3, Hold, Open, pause, Close, Repeat), but it takes a fair bit of pumping to flush the first lot of fluid down the back. Gravity bleeding means you open the nipple and let it drip until you see fresh fluid. If you're are just changing fluid, keep going in the order you were.
Pressure bleeding the M/Cyl is exactly the same but instead of opening the nipple, you "crack" open the two nuts on the lines coming out of the M/Cyl (one at a time).
