Let me tell you about the Adelaide AUTOSALON, About two months ago I wrote to the Auto salon guys to ask if my 1980 RA40 Celica (BLUEWIRE) is ok to enter the show being that its won 5 category’s and won top ten in Adelaide …They said it was too old to enter and the cut off year was 1986 cars ….....so I thought well fair enough.

Then I go to the show at $17 for admission to see an early 70 RX2 Mazda, HQ panel van and 69 Camaro.

Now why did they tell me my Celica was too old?

Now im not bagging the Adelaide Auto salon but they need to sought this out….

i hate skylines, i went 2 see older done up cars like your sean, i spent an hour in the pavilion and 2 hours in the carpark looking at cars in the carpark.

Hence the reason I didn't go.

If I wanted to see "fully sik" skylines and riced out hondas with stupid hunks of fiberglass hanging off I woulda just went to the bay or city any weekend.

I'm not saying that this is all that the show has but predominantly its geared toward this sorta market.

Waiting for this years extreme horsepower show though, looks a bit better.

What's wrong with skylines. I own one. Same year as your car yet quite a lot more advanced.

all though you will never see me in a newer style R32, 33 although maybe a 34 GTR one day

Too many 180's done up to look like drift machines but you can tell they have never been drifted a day in there life. Way too pretty, perfect body work no scratches at all on the wheels. I only went because a few of my friends had entered there cars. I was expecting it to be Gay it is the Auto salon after all.

My mate got told the same about the age with his 4AGTE KE15 corolla Sprinter.

ok Autosalon is gay, drifting is gay, street racing is gay, anyone who walks around tugging over imports is gay.

oh and 2 weeks ago there was a 180 that drifted (probably for the first time) into a tree killing the driver instantly...

Sorry to hear you sold your van - I heard through Mooch you got yourself a pretty good price for it. Not bad for a van which is very stock in the mechanical department! Plus you would have removed all your other goodies like stereo and cruise and all that, no doubt. And your engine bay was still chamois!!!

Still, it was a great start for someone looking to do some hotting up or a conversion. New set of mags, dumpage, big engine and some interior and it would be ready to stop shows. Especially now the arse end is made of metal since that crash on the way to Victor.

A guy I know at work knows I like cars. He hands me a coupon to get in 1/2 price to the Auto salon today and says "sorry I meant to give this to you last week".

Cheers mate, but I was busy this weekend. Had some work to do on the car (although mechanical knowledge and fabrication skills are rudimentary at best) and then on Sunday I raced it at Mallala! Shit man, I don't want to sit around looking at my car when I can be driving it harder than I ever could legally.

I wanna push it hard! I wanna hang it out (that's different to drifting)! It ain't pretty enough to show and ain't fast enough to drag, so I wanna take it out and belt it.

I saw that Autosalon flyer and while I appreciate a good stereo for it's sound, I don't care too much about dB drag races. Where's the automotive content in that?

Oh yeah, and any Skyline post-Godzilla look pretty boring I reckon. Give me a '68 Prince Skyline - oh yeah!

20 PSI TX what exactly is your mates 4AGE carolla sprinter? My mate just did the 4AGE conversion in his sprinter from the stock 4A. Fucking goes HARD! 100kw in a 850kg car. And it drifts well, needs a LSD cause the inside rear keeps spinning up too early.

It's a 1969 KE15 Corolla Sprinter the first sprinter ever made Pretty bloody rare these days. It's a 4AGZE with the superchareger taken off and a T3 off a VG30 running 14psi bolted on. Makes around 140KW at the wheels in a 700KG car. It's all over the road when you want it to be.
