Does the g200 sound exactly like a g161. in other words, does it still sound like the good old gemini sound.

thanx

i can only hear a slight difference. any way why do all gems sound the same?. no smartarse comments like "cos they have the same engine". even with different engines and exhausts they all have the typical gemi note.why?
just curious

depends what you do,
I have a G200 +40thou twin 40mm webers, Camtech cam
exhaust is Pacemaker headers and a 2 1/4 pipe with a 2 1/2 inch muffler and resi,

it sounds heaps deeper and has that Datsun (L series) Snarl when changing gears,
it does not sounds like my old worked 1600, 32/36, TX headers and 2 1/4 pipe with a 2 1/2 inch muffler and resi, hot cam, at all,

But then my Turbo 1600 sounds very different again,

most of the sounds changes come from Cam shaft, exhaust pipe and induction setups, and of course these are the easiest to change to get more power.

Cheers

In my extensive experience of exhaust notes, I would have to say they do sound different, but unless you line up two identical spec engines, one being 1600, the other 2000, then you probably wouldn't be able to pick it.

The most influencing factor on exhaust note is the muffler design and pipe diameter, followed by exhaust manifold design, followed by induction design (ie. camshaft timing, port size, actual inlet manifold design).

PS. This is all just a bit of a guess, but it makes sense to me.
