What sort of power will standard gemini gearbox's and diffs handle before you should start thinking about converting to something stronger?

its common sense and all depends on how rough you are with it

if you do 7000rpm clutch dumps then something will blow up, same story if your constantly ripping burnouts

Generally speaking Geminis are over engineered, their components are a lot tougher than required for the G161. Remember the g/box is the same as the one that sits behind the G180 twin cam, and the diff is pretty strong for such a small car.
So up to 130 hp is ok, over that be careful if you intend to hoon.

gearbox isnt identical but similar components

the driveshafts are about 50% thicker on the japanese cars.

you wll find a heap of similarities between diesel geminis and japanse spec gemis.

if u wanna put a heap of power thru a stocky car track down a diesel and use that as your basis.

A gemini 5 speed is the same box as behind 2 litre rodeos, and I think the 2.6's as well, I cant remember that for sure. If they operate satifactorily with the average factory safety factor behind these bigger engines, then it gives you an idea.

Really though, if its not broken, why waste money fixing it. You can brake anything if you try, so dont try so hard.
