Im looking for some quick help here please fellas
I need to bolt the head back up on the TE today to move it. Its been shaved 2mm, valves replaced etc....the valve assembly is back onthe head, ive put the cam back in and bolted up the rocker assembly. THe problem is, when i turn the cam over, its fuckin tight. After one revolution it seems to snap/ slips violently, as if there is to much compression or something. Im lost, should i strip it down again or what????
ive looked through the gregorys manual fo help, but found nought.
cheers for any imput....Tim |

make sure the rocker arms ( the adjusters )are undone and the followers do not folow the cam,
then check that cam will turn,
and oil everything!!!
then connect the timing chain and make sure it is correctly timed as per the book otherwise you will bend those valves and it's fucked,
undo the tensioner,
then adjust the rockers to the correct clearance,
and RE CHECK everthing, before you put the rocker cover on,
cheers

Its not going to be that easy to turn if its actuating the valves. Assemble it with just the bearings (ie remove the rockers) and, using plenty of oil on everything, see if the camshaft will spin freely in the bearing journals. If not, check the clearances at the sprocket end where the cam slots into that groove. And check the journals with a straight edge as the head may be warped enough to sieze the cam. Did they check the head for straightness before they machined it? |
