Im getting a car together to get around in as my other getaround car got rear ended by a cressida at 60km!
Im gona use this new TG till my wagon is done. I love driving in the bush and hope one day to get in to rallying so I was thinkin of welding the diff? Is it a shit way to drive? Tyre Wear? does it feel more in control? What are the pros and cons?

pros - more outright traction - better on dirt
cons - much harder to drive as both wheels suddenly lose traction, whereas with open diff, one wheel loses, the other still has grip. on tarmac tends to wear tyres and make chirping noises and wheel jump around tight corners, very dangerous in the wet. also gives axle windup, so every time you park the car you need to lift at least one wheel off the ground to let axle unwind. can lead to premature axle breaking.
in short - slightly faster if you are a fantastic dirt driver with lightening reflexes, dont bother if a regular joe or you drive on tarmac |

| A nine inch diff has nothing to do about whether it's a locker, LSD, or open wheeler. |
