could somebody make an overheating checklist for me? i've checked thermostat, flushed radiator, done this, done that, and still my car wont stay cool
it wasnt worryin me that much until a drag last night, escort,2l..i was kickin him and my car startin choking coz it was too hot
i've got the g200 in it and its always run a little bit warmer than the old engine..(old engine average about 180f, this ones running on 220+ at the mom)
like i said i wasnt TOO worried until that bloody escort beat me, ok i lost gracefully...but when him and his mates hung out the windows and yelled 'FORD POWER MOTHER@#$$%@#'
i thought enoughs enuough
cheers

I think your radiator (if it is standard) is simply too small. I had no problems with a worked 1.6, but when I put a 2L in the standard couldnt keep up if it was hot outside.
You need a 3 core or rodeo or something. There are heaps of posts about this on the forum.

I disagree, something else is amiss...
Engine tune (is your engine running lean?)

Get the radiator properly cleaned (tanks removed).

Maybe my original was rad was getting old then. I know of several people having that problem with a 2L conversion.

There are at least 3 different temperature ranges of thermostats available in 54mm for a gemini. Get the coolest one you can.

Other than that you may have a blockage in the system somewhere.
Turn your heater on next time you have a drag!
