Hey guys long time no write. Yeah well anyway....

Just about finished having the 2ltr built. It's fairly mildish. 2ltr block bored 40thou, fully balanced, new rod bolts, beam polished rods, decked 15thou. Bob Sherry ported the head and it flows 155hp with the manifold - (only mild) and has an air speed of 301.25. The cam is a crow and i can't bloody remember the specs of hand. They have just replaced all of their previous cams with a new range for gemi's by the way. It has about 420 thou lift and has a power band from 3000-6000.

The carby for now and depending on funds is the ADM34 weber off the falcon (XF leaded - no pollution shit). We had to lengthen the studs that came with the adaptor plate because it's meant for the 32/36. The question is will this carb do the job okay? Power from my mechanic's desktop dyno came to about 145 hp @ 5700. Obviously there is more to be had with sidey's but I have other expenses for now.

Is the power valve adjustable? Will this carb suffer with a the loss of a bit of vaccuum at idle? As much tech info as poss would be great so as i can pass it on to my mechanic. He doesn't deal much with 4's mainly hi po 8's.

Cheers

Hey dude
I just made studs with threded rod when I fitted my 34adm weber (XF unleaded model, the primary jets work off vacume) with my carby its smoothed out my lumpy idle, its running a little rich and needs to be rejetted but thats cause its brandnew carby and is made for a 4.1 its a fucking nice carby tho itll do a much better job then the 32/36 even tho the throughts are only a little larger.

anyquestions give me a bell on here or email me

Hey adam, no the power valve is not adjustable, it opens when at a specific amount of vaccum or less. It can be modified however by altering the spring tension on the actuating rod. a softer spring will allow you to run less eninge vacuum before the valve opens. I had similar issues with a 32/36 and large cam in a 1600. I am sure before I started to modify things, that the power valve was open at idle and just dumping fuel in.

I have never actually used a 34 ADM carb on a gemmy, james has, and he says it smoothed his idle out heaps.

As far as tech info, there isn't much to know. You jet it untill your mixtures are right, so you need a dyno work shop with a wide band oxy sensor, or you could go for a run and pull the plugs if you are on the cheap.

Other than jetting, you bolt it on, bolt on the air filter, hook up the fuel and accelerator cable. start the engine, and do a burn out, its as simple as that.

Cheers!
