The shock obsorber has ripped its brakcet off of the top the suspension arm. Can any one tell me the easiest way to remove the top ball joint so the arm can be replaced, or any other ides on this.

Jack up the car, put it on chassis stands, take off the wheel, shove a jack under the outer end of the lower control arm, loosen the nut from the balljoint, but DO NOT take it off, just loosen it until the end of the thread is flush with the nut, remove the balljoint with either a balljoint extractor or just tap it out carefully, take off the nut, and remove the balljoint stud thingy from the knuckle but don't let the knuckle hang off the brake line or the lower arm, that would be bad.

All that is left then is to undo the fulcrum bolt and take out the control arm, just keep in mind that control arms vary between models so try and find one from a TX coupe.

Where would I be able to buy a Ball joint extractor, and about how much would I expect to pay. There is no way it will come out with a hammer.

Try autobarn, repco or trade tools.

Also, if you are replacing your upper arm it would be a good idea to replace your upper balljoints, note the plural, both sides.

Mate the best, cheapest and easiest thing to do would be unbolt the shock absorber and lower suspension arm and take them to a service station or somewhere that can press the ball joint out for you. It cost me $15 to do all the front ball joints on my TX.
