I have just finished rebuilding my g161 engine and when we are trying to crank it over the engine is rotating but it won't start and it is back fireing really badly does any one know what the cause of this is because it is really shitting me |

with the rocker cover off turn the motor to top dead centre
check to see if the cam lobes on number 4 are actuating both the intake and exhaust valves(rocking between the 2)
now turn the motor back slightly so it is on 6 degrees before tdc .make sure that the rotor button is pointing to number 1 spark plug lead on the dizzy cap.if not then turn dizzy till it is, or put leads onto cap remembering that timing is 1-3-4-2, and it turns in an anticlockwise direction. if this doesnt work.. goto a mechanic.. do not pass go and do not collect $200
