Hey,

just wondering how many of you guys have hooked up after market guages!

I have recently purchased
- Oil pressure (0-100psi)- Mechanical
- Fuel pressure (0-100psi)- Mechanical
- Air/Fuel ratio - Electronic

The problem is i'm not exactly where to hook them up!

I was told that as the fuel is 0-100 then i should hook it up before the regulator to see some flucuation??

Does anyone know how to kook up a oxygen sensor easily as i need it to operate the air/fuel??

Anyone got any REAL help with this??

Cheers

You should have received a sender unit for the oil pressure gauge - this just needs to be tapped into an oil gallery. Not too sure about your fuel pressure gauge - it's been a long time since I played with carby cars, only thing is with a carby car your fuel pressure is only about 7psi so your gauge is going to show bugger all anyway. With your air/fuel ration meter you just need to install an oxygen sensor (use the one that autometer recommend - I'm pretty sure they only have one wire)in your exhaust after your collector.

Fuel Pressure Gauges are illegal in the cabin, only allowed them under the bonnet etc.

The mechanic oil pressure gauge would have came with a little plastic pipe that runs into your engine bay and pumbs up near the oil pressure switch

The mechanic fuel pressure gauge will do the same thing with a Tee peice before it goes to your carby/EFI fuel rail.

The air/fuel mixture gauge will go to an oxegen sensor.

I have all electronic gauges so I dont have any oil or fuel inside the firewall of the car... saftey first.

I dunno why you cant run an oxygen sensor on a carby engine? Why is that gene????

i dont see why i cant hook up an oxygen sensor to my car and run it from that. It uses rwo wires!

my mate had to do it on his cordia turbo to run his air/fuel guage

My car us carby atm but am planning to do an efi cnversion real soon!

where abouts is the oil pressure switch??
so ya reckon to place the fuel t-piece just before the inlet into the carby??

I too don't see why you can't hook up the air/fuel meter to your carby car, not that you'll be able to do much with the information. It's designed as a tool to adjust the mixtures on aftermarket ECU's on E.F.I. vehicles. You'd have to get a threaded nut welded to your exhaust.

Your fuel pressure guage won't read much cause the carby system runs 4 to 7 p.s.i.

Your oil press. switch is just in front of the drivers engine mount.

the reason you can not run the air/feul meter in becaures any slite of lead or silicon makes contact with the sensor is will shit its self. only efi cars that run unleaded petrol or pulp.
