Does anyone know if I can use a mechanical fuel pump cam and rockers on an electric fuel pump style head?
If so can I use a cam and rocker stuff from a different head as the guy at the wreckers said i couldnt?

YES
all you need to do to the earlier model head is grind the hole for the fuel pump arm to go through the head.. the bolt holes are already there on the older heads and it the shape of the head has been moulded to put the mechanical fuel pump on.. only the arm hole isn't there..

i've done it so i know it works (make sure you use all the gaskets AND spacer that is used with the mechanical fuel pump)
